Uncharted Gameplay, Development, And More Information: Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment released the action-adventure game Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017. This add-on is not required to play Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in order to enjoy it. Players take control of Chloe Frazer, who is attempting to stop a violent warlord and his army of insurgents from sparking a civil war in India by obtaining the Tusk of Ganesh in the Western Ghats mountain ranges. It’s the first in the Uncharted series that doesn’t star Nathan Drake.
The Lost Legacy takes place in the same third-person perspective as the other Uncharted games, and it features the same arsenal of weaponry, physical attacks, and stealth options for players to utilize against the game’s antagonists. Players explore the area on foot or via car as they solve puzzles and advance the story using multiple platformer components.

In the months following the May 2016 launch of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the team behind The Lost Legacy began work on its sequel. It expands on the formula established by previous Uncharted games while maintaining the same high quality. The game’s story, visual style, and gameplay mechanics are all inspired by Chloe, a supporting character who has appeared in previous Uncharted games as Nathan Drake’s companion, love interest, and associate.
Author Josh Scherr and creative director Shaun Escayg drew inspiration for the plot and characters from the voices and motion capture performances of returning cast members Claudia Black, Laura Bailey, and Troy Baker, who played Chloe, Nadine, and Sam, respectively.
For the PlayStation 4, The Lost Legacy was launched in August of 2017; for the PlayStation 5 in January of 2022; and for Windows in October of 2022. Positive reviews flooded in after the game’s release.
Uncharted Gameplay
The action-adventure video game Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a third-person platformer. The player takes control of Chloe Frazer, a treasure seeker with impressive acrobatic abilities who can run, jump, climb, swim, and swing. In order to progress through the plot, players must move through a variety of settings, such as cities, buildings, and temples. The player defends themselves from hostile opponents using a variety of tactics, including firearms, melee combat, and stealth, and also through driving vehicles.
Players have access to a wide variety of firearms, including long guns like rifles and shotguns and smaller guns like pistols and revolvers, as well as explosives like grenades and C4. The game adds quiet weaponry so players can sneak up on foes or launch sneak attacks without being seen.
Despite its linear nature, the game’s landscapes are rich with branching pathways, and the maps are considerably larger than those found in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. An advanced AI system allows the game’s hostile foes to adapt to any given battle scenario by reacting to player actions, coordinating tactics, and working together.
Companions are also AI-controlled and can help the player out in battle by doing things like throwing objects at adversaries to stun them, alerting them to the presence of invisible enemies, or even attacking them themselves with weapons. There are quiet moments in the game where characters can talk to each other. Additionally, a dialogue tree allows players to determine the course of certain dialogues.
Uncharted 4’s multiplayer mode is playable, and the game features new material related to The Lost Legacy.
Uncharted Development
After May 2016, when Uncharted 4 was released, Naughty Dog started working on The Lost Legacy, initially exploring narrative possibilities. Two directors, Kurt Margenau as game director and Shaun Escayg as creative director, were selected to oversee production. Because of his expertise in programming and his enthusiasm for games and interactivity, Margenau was chosen for this role, while Escayg was picked for his comprehension of story structure.
Henry Jackman, who scored Uncharted 4, composed the game’s original score. Although Uncharted 5 was considered, the team ultimately decided to focus on developing downloadable content (DLC) for Uncharted 4 so that they could release The Last of Us Part II at the same time.
At the PlayStation Experience event on December 4, 2016, The Lost Legacy was revealed alongside its first gameplay trailer. In April 2017, a gameplay trailer was published to announce the game’s release date and pre-order bonus: a PS4 port of the original Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.
At June’s E3, a story trailer was also presented. On August 22, 2017, the game was launched in North America on PlayStation 4, and on August 23, 2017, it was released in Europe. The Lost Legacy was only accessible digitally as a package with Uncharted 4 after the standalone version was taken down from the PlayStation Store in December 2021.
As part of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, published for PlayStation 5 on January 28, 2022, with Uncharted 4, this PS4 classic was given a high-definition makeover. Co-developed with Iron Galaxy, the Windows version launched on October 19, 2022.
