The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt wraps up the Witcher trilogy. The series is based on Polish novelist Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels. All things must come to an end, and they’re ready to blast it out with this last project, which includes an open world 35 times larger than The Witcher 2’s.
The Witcher is 20% larger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. CD Projekt Red said that while Skyrim is large, much of it isn’t exciting. The Witcher 3 will be interesting, and the environment has been hand-designed to be engaging. The tale revolves around a chaotic and dangerous force called the Wild Hunt. Sorcery!

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Story
witch? The Witcher 3 is set after The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, with a war-torn world and rumors of the Wild Hunt. You play as Geralt of Rivia. He hunts monsters for income. He’s no knight or mercenary.
He’s more like Grimm’s Nick Burkhardt and Ghostbusters’ Peter Venkman. Geralt will examine disturbances, consult his lore, and hopefully defeat the beast. It’s hardly a glamorous life, and many people mock his work. It’s a job.
The game begins in turmoil. Nilfgaard decimated the Northern Kingdoms. Geralt has been investigating rumours of the Wild Hunt, a grim fairy tale, ravaging the countryside. According to CD Projekt Red’s Adam Badowski, the Wild Hunt is a gang of phantom horsemen who rain destruction everywhere they arrive.
In the CGI trailer, we saw behind closed doors, a Sauron-like creature bristling with blades mowing down innocents, and a lone survivor stumbles out of some brush before gazing at a giant airship. Your worst nightmare?
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Gameplay
The Witcher is a standalone RPG that features Geralt’s twin swords, potions, magic, and “Witcher” skills. As the White Wolf, he prefers to work alone. The Witcher 3 has a core mission, but you can disregard it and do side quests instead. Most quests have long-lasting implications in the game’s storyline. Some can continue till the game’s 36 possible endings.
Geralt has various side tasks outside of the main goal. In our demo, we saw a gigantic, antlered Fiend with a lair in ancient ruins. After a battle, he withdrew to his lair to recover. We could utilize Geralt’s Witcher skills to trace him to his lair and resume the battle, or we could keep on. We wanted to find him and punish him, but we chose to keep playing.
Our next quest took us to a community where a gentle ghost was attacking if worshipped. Geralt arrives to help, but he’s not exactly welcome. After some inquiry and checking his Bestiary, Geralt realizes he’s confronting an ancient male Leshen. This creature can “mark” living victims without their knowledge and can’t be killed as long as they’re alive.
Geralt hunts the beast in windy forests. It’s a scary scenario featuring Blair Witch-like “gotcha!” moments. Geralt detects the beast by removing its totems and listening for its trademark sound: ravens cawing. Thin, lanky, antlered, and skull-faced Leshen is really spooky. There are no “boss monsters” in The Witcher 3, simply different varieties of 80 monsters.
Geralt’s alchemy and making skills help him track down these monsters. The development team has guaranteed full control of Geralt’s blades, with no quick-time events or scripted strikes, in the new combat. Swordsman, Mage, and Alchemist talents can be combined to create hybrid characters and combat styles.
Presentation
Living world. The Witcher 3 is cinematic and big. The demo’s island environment is larger than The Witcher 2 and contains Nordic and Celtic mythology-based inhabitants.
As all encounters are dialogue-based, you’ll get a feel of who they are when you talk to someone. The crew added muscles to NPC faces so they emote more realistically. The voice acting is spot on, which is an achievement for a North American localization, and adds to the game.
The planet continues to exist despite your actions. Weather affects travel and the economy, and you may find that fresh fish is cheaper near the ocean than inland.
The press notes say people will react to temperature changes, predators will hunt, and “lovers will meet by night.” So far, the huge world Geralt inhabits feels quite real. Like entering a tale halfway through, rather than stopping and starting based on your choices.
Takeaway
The Witcher 3 is primed to deliver a big RPG experience suitable for solitary explorers because of its advancements, massive scale, and promise of greater gameplay. We’re enthusiastic about next year’s game.
Final Words
The Witcher trilogy’s finale. Inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s art. It’s more than three-and-a-half times larger than The Witcher 2’s open world. They deserve a grand farewell. Skyrim is huge. Skyrim is a vast but dull game, per CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3’s setting is fun. The Wild Hunt is deadly. Sorcery!
