A minor update for The Sims 4 was released on Tuesday to fix several glitches and add new underwear, but it caused some more issues for users. Players specifically complain that their Sims’ faces seem strange.
Teeth are crooked and misaligned, with crossed and sunk-in eyes. The faces of even dogs and cats are somewhat distorted, giving everything an odd appearance. Many players claim that everyone in a neighborhood is affected, not just the single Sims.
On The Sims 4 support thread, over 1,200 gamers have posted images of their Sims’ enigmatic new faces to report the issue.
‼️ NEW BUG ALERT‼️
After today's patch, all my previously created sims have a face bug. The eyes look weirdly shaped, and the mouth has a weird underbite. Even resetting the eyes with a new preset doesn't work to fix it!
This is affecting other players as well. Spread the word! pic.twitter.com/Y6Xemkg11N

Electronic Arts have looked into the issue and are developing a patch. The patch has no set release date, but the business wants to address the problem “as soon as possible.” When the April 18 update is eventually released, Sims created before that date will get their faces back.
After the update, Sims will have “minor adjustments as a result of them being correctly rendered.”The seemingly insignificant changes to Sims’ looks can often ruin the hours of labor that gamers invest into creating their characters.

Large communities are dedicated to designing the perfect looks for Sims, whether or not utilizing mods. Anyone who has experimented with character creation in a video game is familiar with the difficulty of creating someone who seems human.
Finding the proper mods is as essential for many Sims 4 gamers as doing the work in-game. Since The Sims 4 has been around for almost ten years and some players are still using their original Sims from the time of the game’s introduction, it makes sense that gamers would get connected to them and how they look.
Good because this is my favourite sim and look at her eyes 😭 pic.twitter.com/GkmV2dW3G7

Players of The Sims 4 are relieved to learn that their Sims will return to normal when an update is released. The Greenhouse Haven Kit and the Basement Treasures Kit, two new kits enabling users to construct luscious green areas and filthy gremlin basements, respectively, were published on Thursday.
While some players hesitate to update out of concern that the face bug would permanently alter their Sims, the excitement for those two additions is undoubtedly diminished by the face bug.
