The Day Before, an MMORPG under development by Fntastic and published by MytonaFntastic, had a prominent Steam wishlist position before the listing was taken down.
While we have received a few tidbits of information on the zombie survival experience since its announcement, many things remain unanswered. Despite its share of controversy, a recent trailer confirmed the November 10 release date, making it one of the most anticipated new games in 2023.
The Summer Game Fest is scheduled to start off the E3 2023 calendar, so it will be fascinating to see whether the new MMO makes an appearance there.
The Day Before New Release Date
The new date for The Day Before’s release is November 10, 2023. One of the most anticipated future PC games, the open-world survival game, had been scheduled for release on March 1, 2023, but a delay pushed the release date back by 10 months.

The Day Before was postponed once, in June 2022, when Fntastic missed the deadline to upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.
The Day Before Delay
Due to a trademark issue, Fntastic postponed the release of The Day Before on January 25. Although “the game trademark The Day Before was available at the time of the announcement,” the studio claims that “a private individual filled out an application before us to register the game trademark The Day Before in the United States” months after the announcement.
Fntastic official account shared a post on Twitter:-

Fntastic states that it has only recently learned of the trademark infringement charges against the studio’s usage of the moniker and is now working to “solve everything”; the company gives this as the primary justification for the delay of the game and any new video.
What Platforms Will the Day Before Release on?
The next MMO will initially launch on PC, but Fntastic has confirmed that it is considering simultaneous Xbox One S and PlayStation 5 launches. The release date for console versions is currently unknown.

The Day Before Gameplay
While we’ve seen snippets of the game in trailers, it wasn’t until a video published by IGN in 2021 that we got our first peek at actual gameplay. The video depicts two players searching a petrol station for supplies while shooting at surrounding infected enemies.
The footage reveals details about the game’s inventory and the looting system, making it reminiscent of State of Decay. We hadn’t seen much of the game in action until the initial release date, especially after the switch to Unreal Engine 5.
However, on February 2, Fntastic published 10 minutes of gameplay footage, despite having previously said that it would be released in January. The movie starts with two player characters racing through a deserted neighborhood on their way to rob a house.
Then, we’re led through deserted city streets where we confront a few zombies. The gameplay reveal has been met with generally adverse reactions thus far.
Even though we haven’t seen any more gameplay yet, Fntastic mentioned in an interview with Well Played that The Day Before would include post-apocalyptic jobs, homes, and saunas.
It was also noted that there would be “various types of infected” to “add to the complexity and thrill of the game” in the same interview with the developer.
But, as Fntastic emphasizes, “the heart of our game lies within the interactions and experiences of the players themselves as they navigate and inhabit this post-apocalyptic world.” Hence, the zombies aren’t the game’s only focus.
