As shown in today’s State of Play live, the extra gaming time showed fast-paced open-world action. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s initial footage was shown off at Sony’s State of Play February live stream, confirming that it will be a live-service game focusing on single-player and cooperative gameplay. 

Rocksteady Studios, makers of the showcase’s main attraction, provided a wealth of plot information and gameplay video. The 15-minute clip showed off more of the game’s overall structure, revealing that it is an open-world action shooter that combines elements from games like Batman: Arkham Knight and Sunset Overdrive.

The city of Metropolis has been overtaken by Brainiac’s minions and possessed members of the Justice League. It’s up to you to play as one of the four members of the Suicide Squad: Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, or Captain Boomerang. In the more extended preview, the Squad faces up against a tainted version of Flash, who swiftly gains the upper hand. Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Batman are just a few Justice League members who appear in the trailer.

The State of Play gave us our most in-depth look at the game with its prolonged gameplay demonstration. Suicide Squad’s premise is that, although set in the same universe as Rocksteady’s Arkham Knight, the players will look at things from the villains’ point of view.

You can increase your villain’s strength in the game’s zones as you progress by equipping them with better weapons and armor. The devs also revealed the presence of a cosmetics-focused battle pass that would grant access to retro skins for the characters and other costumes that pay homage to other heroes.
