As with most Bethesda games before it, the flaws in Starfield that official patches haven’t addressed are being corrected by a community of modders, and the first Starfield Community Patch is now available.
The Starfield Community Patch version 0.0.1 is now available on Nexus Mods and includes dozens of bug fixes. The full changelog is available on the patch page, but some of the most significant changes include a spot to ensure that many of the skill ranks actually apply the bonuses they’re meant to.
Starfield Modders Release First Community Patch
Players can now download a free community-created patch for Starfield on PC, which aims to address a variety of minor bugs plaguing Bethesda’s latest RPG, ranging from patches for inaccurate speech to skill tweaks and several other polishing changes.
Bethesda stated in May 2022 that it was delaying the release of Starfield to ensure that gamers get “the best, most polished” version of the game. This was a wise decision because when it was released earlier this year on September 6th, gamers were rewarded with a vast RPG that was filled with content and generally free of significant bugs and game-breaking difficulties.
However, as one would expect from a game as large as Bethesda’s latest cosmic adventure, Starfield has its share of problems, quirks, and graphical abnormalities, some of which persist to this day.
Fortunately, the developer is now receiving assistance in its mission to address Starfield’s remaining issues in the form of an unofficial patch written by a coalition of community modders, whose initial offering seeks to “improve the vanilla experience for all players” while remaining true to Bethesda’s vision for the game.
The initial version, which can be downloaded via Nexus Mods, features 32 fixes written by nine volunteers and focuses on fixing existing issues with Starfield rather than adding new content.

As a result, it excludes any newly generated quests, characters, equipment, or other community-created hijinks. However, gamers interested in such might check out IGN’s list of our top mods to date.
Instead, the Starfield Community Patch and subsequent iterations will attempt to address a slew of minor annoyances such as script errors, misplaced objects, inconsistent item properties, missing attributes, and spelling errors, as well as issues with faulty missions and game-breaking exploits.
The modders remark that their work is now only available for PC download, owing to the creators’ failure to bring Bethesda.net to the console version of the game.
