According to a reliable insider, Rockstar Games is reportedly aiming for a holiday 2024 release for Grand Theft Auto 6, or at most, the release date may be pushed back to early 2025.
An official announcement is also anticipated this year, although the insider warns that it might be postponed because of difficulties with working remotely.
After experiencing multiple delays over the past few years, the release date is now anticipated for the holiday of 2024, according to source Tez2 — who previously revealed the existence of a GTA trilogy.
The source cites Rockstar’s implementation of a forced return to work policy—a practice that has lately caused issues for numerous video game firms, notably Activision Blizzard—as the primary cause of the impending announcement (or delay of one).

According to the insider, Rockstar might be adamant about announcing this year since all of the studio’s working employees are there. Still, the problem of losing working employees due to the compulsory return policy could cause the announcement to be delayed even longer.
Even if the game is announced, it won’t be all rainbows and sunshine, as the source mentions that some of the game may be removed or repackaged as DLC because the management cannot postpone the game any longer.
This supports Tez2’s earlier claim that Rockstar scaled back their ambitions to add Vice City and one or more significant South American cities to relieve the pressure; this information is also supported by Jason Schreier’s Bloomberg piece on the same subject.

Since many of the leaks that circulated a few years ago suggested a Narcos-themed game, fans believe that content from the upcoming GTA 6 has been reused in GTA Online’s Cayo Perico.
Rumors that some of the planned stuff created for GTA 6 was somehow reused in Cayo Perico are supported by retro automobiles, Colombian vibes, vintage autos, and repurposed flora assets from Red Dead Redemption 2.

As Tez2 recently mentioned, there may not be any upcoming remasters for games like GTA 4 and the original Red Dead Redemption due to the unfavorable reception of the trilogy remaster and its numerous technical issues. It is also hypothesized that GTA 6 is taking up most of the studio’s plans and that no side projects are in the works.
