Given their scarcity, Moose sites are a big topic in the Red Dead Redemption 2 community. Most people know where they should spawn, yet it is expected to play for dozens of hours and not locate one, let alone a three-star Moose for crafting.
This article will go over well-known Moose spawning as well as ones you may not have seen before. We’ll also go over how to get Moose to spawn once you’ve found their spawn point.
RDR2 Moose Location
There are a lot more Moose spots in Red Dead Redemption 2 than most people realize. Most maps and guides do not feature some of the most reliable spawns. Today, I’ll go over every location where I’ve ever spotted a Moose, providing you with a starting point for planning your perfect Moose-seeking journey.
Upper Montana River (A)
A Moose spawning opportunity exists just north of the Upper Montana River, south of Strawberry. It is vital to remember that these spawning are accessible to Arthur Morgan, who is not welcome on the Upper Montana River’s south bank. Make a point of skinning any prospective kills on the north side.
Upper Montana River (B)
One more probable Moose spawning location is just south of Strawberry, approximately on top of the Upper Montana River, south of Owanjila Dam. Be cautious here, as Arthur cannot easily cross the river for the majority of the game. This isn’t my favorite offspring, but you could have more luck than I did.
Owanjila Dam
The Owanjila Dam is located just west of Strawberry. This lake isn’t listed as a prospective Moose spot, but it’s one of the most consistent I’ve discovered. But I hunt at this lake frequently, so my opinion may be a little biased. Look for Moose on the south or north shores, and they often swim over.
Lake Isabella
There are four reasons why you should visit Lake Isabella. One is a possible Moose spawn, one is a White Arabian, one is a Legendary Sockeye Salmon, one is a Legendary White Bison, and one is a Legendary White Bison.
In fact, the Moose can be found in the exact location of the White Arabian horse. Check the northeast shore for a possible Moose as well. Take the shot if you see it; it won’t be around for long.
Barrow Lagoon
In Red Dead Redemption 2, there is the possibility of a Moose spawn on the west shore of the Barrow Lagoon. There’s also an excellent encounter with a Grizzly Bear fending off a band of wolves here, but there aren’t many other reasons to be here. Perhaps rob the abandoned cabin.
Cairn Lake
Cairn Lake is a Moose’s home, but it also has a few story-related reasons to be there. If you’re heading up north to look for Moose spawns, you should visit all three lakes because they all have the species in question, and, well, you’re already here. This is also one of the locations where players can compel a Moose to spawn.
Cattail Pond
A possible Moose location is on the north shore of Cattail Pond. Look only on the west side of the river that flows into the lake from north to south. There’s a lot of traffic in this region so the Moose might get scared if you’re checking out this location, approaching from the south.
Dakota River – Little Creek River
I’ve only seen one Moose in this region so far. I let a one-star bull go because I didn’t realize I needed its antlers. Fudge. Anyway, my game displays it on the east bank of the Dakota River, high on a cliff, but I spotted it on the west side, high on a ridge, not far from Wallace Station.
Caliban’s Seat
I’ve never seen a Moose at Caliban’s Seat, but the guide believes there’s one along the river just southwest of there. I’ve had friends confirm this spot as well; however, due to the scarcity of Moose, I’ve had no luck. It would be best if you also got the official strategy guide. It’s fantastic, just not for Moose offspring.
Calumet Ravine
A Moose can be found in a lake to the southeast of Calumet Ravine. I’ve personally seen at least two of them. Be cautious of spooking this one, as shooting it in the water would almost certainly result in it sinking before you can skin it. The Arabian horse with the Warped Brindle is also nearby.
