Only three days have passed since The International 12 (TI12) concluded, and rumors and conjecture about roster changes have already begun to circulate. When players switch teams following TIs, it’s business as usual, but there’s a higher degree of intensity this time.
During a recent Twitch livestream, Team Liquid’s livestreamer Max “qojqva” Bröcker revealed the probable modifications coming to Shopify Rebellion. According to qojqva, Shopify’s new team is the “wildest,” and the Dota 2 community will “laugh” when they learn about it.
Qojqva Thoughts on Shopify Rebellion
Many pro-scene livestreamers have been asked about roster changes, including qojqva, who gave his thoughts on probable changes to Shopify’s lineup.
“Shopify has the wildest team in my opinion.” You’ll probably giggle when you see that roster, not because it’s horrible, but because – ah, of course. That is the reaction you will have. You’re like, “Of course.”
Numerous discussions have taken place regarding Shopify’s roster, but neither the players nor the organization have formally declared any changes.
The organization entered the Dota 2 professional scene last December by signing the majority of the former Evil Geniuses squad (Arteezy, Abed, Cr1t-, Fly, and coach BuLba) and Joná “SabeRLight-” Volek. The club did quite well in the first half of the year, finishing fourth at the Lima Major 2023 and third at the DreamLeague Season 19.
Performances dropped until a stunning turnaround in DreamLeague Season 21, when it finished second. However, a difficult group stage was followed by a disappointing loss to regional archrivals TSM in the first round of the lower bracket at TI12. As a result, Shopify ended 13th-16th in TI12.
While SabeRLight- was new to Shopify’s lineup, the other members had been playing together for a long time. Tal “Fly” Aizik quit to pursue other possibilities in 2021, only to return seven months later.

As a result, it will be interesting to observe how much the North American squad evolves and what this “surprising” component mentioned by qojqva is. With Shopify set to compete at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 in December, the full lineup for the upcoming season may take some time to be disclosed.
