PS4 Players Slam PlayStation: Following a contentious PlayStation decision that surfaced this week, many PS4 players are currently not very happy with the company. The PS5 is entering its third year on the market as 2023 draws near.
Many predicted that PS4 support would be almost nonexistent by this stage, yet this hasn’t happened. The PS4 continues to receive a steady stream of titles, as do the PS3 and PS4. For instance, God of War Ragnarok recently launched on PS4 and PS5. Horizon Forbidden West did the same earlier this year.
The latter is what is at the center of the debate. Horizon Forbidden West will receive the Burning Shores addition on April 9, 2023. The expansion will only be available on PS5, as opposed to the base game, which was published earlier this year on PS4 and PS5. Why?
In any case, Guerilla Games doesn’t offer much beyond a general statement that the company “made the difficult decision to focus all resources on developing an outstanding experience only for the PlayStation 5 console” due to the “grand vision” of the game.
As you can anticipate, the news and justification haven’t impressed many PlayStation aficionados. Hopefully, the individuals who say that Burning Shores on the PS5 is “how it should be” are joking. I could understand if the MAIN game was exclusive to the PS5.
However, Horizon Forbidden West is also playable on the PS4, therefore it was a mistake to make the DLC a PS5 exclusive, according to a Twitter user. “Wtf? this is just not okay.” Another Twitter user states, “Horizon Forbidden West is my Game of the Year.”
“It is upsetting to see that Burning Shores DLC would only be available on the PS5 since the main game was available on both the PS4 and PS5. Some individuals just cannot afford a PS5. Denying those who played on one console the opportunity to play the DLC is a terrific way to make money.
It’s difficult to believe a PS4 can’t run the DLC. In actuality, it probably can. But it might not be worth the trouble to obtain it on PS4, at least that’s the conclusion that PlayStation and Guerrilla Games probably came to after examining PS4 sales data for the game and contrasting it with the costs of getting the DLC on the system.
Having said that, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment and let us know what you think. Was Sony’s choice to do this the right one?
