One of last year’s biggest exclusives, a much-anticipated classic, and 15 other games are included. The lineup of February 2023’s free games for the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus has been revealed.
On Tuesday, February 21st, subscribers to the middle and upper tiers will gain access to many new games. As with a video streaming service, the Extra tier provides subscribers with a library of hundreds of games that can be downloaded to PS4 and PS5.
Remasters and retro titles (including newly emulated versions of PS1 and PSP games) with save states, rewind, and video options are added to the Plus library. The service’s streaming capabilities are made available to Premium subscribers as well.
All PS5/PS4 games are available in both the PS4 and PS5 native formats. Through backward compatibility, PS4-only games can be played entirely on PS5; in some cases, the experience is even improved.
Horizon: Forbidden West for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 is the crown jewel of the Extra tier. The release of this exclusive title for PS Plus comes before Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, making it one of Sony’s most anticipated releases of the year. It’s a big open world game with lots of stuff to find and fight giant robot dinosaurs over.
Moreover, on April 19, a new add-on called Burning Shores will be made available to those who have completed the main game by that date.
The Quarry (PlayStation 5/PlayStation 4) is next, as it was named one of Digital Spy’s Best Games of 2022. It’s a survival horror game set in the 1980s where your choices will determine whether a group of camp counsellors (played by some famous actors) make it through a night in Hell or perish.
Several games have received high praise, including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (PlayStation 4), Tekken 7 (PlayStation 4), and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (Xbox One) (PS4). Popular titles such as Earth Defense Force 5, I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, and the sequel Borderlands 3 (PS5/PS4) are also being released.
Outriders (PS5/PS4), Oninaki (PS4), and The Forgotten City (PS5) round out this month’s new releases. This month, Premium is getting neither a PS Vita nor a PSP update, but it is getting the first remaster of 2020’s Destroy All Humans!(2), a parody of ’50s science fiction with a challenging final boss.
Farming simulator Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, Old West/steampunk anime crossover Wild Arms 2 (making its European debut), and one of the most well-remembered PlayStation One JRPGs, The Legend of Dragoon, are all available now.
Final Words: Horizon: Forbidden West, The Quarry, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, and more can all be found in February’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Outriders, Scarlet Nexus, Borderlands 3, and Tekken 7 are some of the new additions this month. We’re excited to announce the February 2023 PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.
