According to an update from developer Kinetic Games, the highly anticipated console versions of the famous ghost-hunting Game Phasmophobia have been delayed even again. The ports were initially scheduled to be released in August 2023 but were pushed back to October 2023 when a fire hampered operations at Kinetic’s UK offices.
The firm now claims that addressing ongoing problems from remote work and optimizing the Game for PlayStation VR2 has caused them to postpone the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions indefinitely.
Phasmophobia Ps5 Release Date
Fans have been anticipating Phasmophobia’s console versions since its early access release on Steam in September 2020. Kinetic Games, while not providing a specific release date, has confirmed a late 2023 release date following repeated postponements that pushed it past the planned initial Halloween release date.
“We’re pushing back our biggest update ever to mid-August for some final polish.” As of now, the console’s delivery date of late August is on track.” Kinetic Game stated this in an August Twitter post.
The Ascension Progression 2.0 update has already been released, introducing adjustments to the leveling system, equipment, and tiers. For the time being, it does not appear that any additional maps will be removed.
Phasmophobia’s Xbox Series X/S, PSVR2, and PS5 will be available in late 2023.
Unfortunately, the console versions were delayed yet again, this time due to a fire at Kinetic Games’ office building, as well as “unpredictable development issues.”
Twitter’s complete statement is as follows:
“First and foremost, we’d like to thank you all for your support and hope that you’re as excited about the console release as we are.”
Our capacity to test and develop has been severely hampered as a result of a recent fire in our office building and unanticipated development challenges.

After careful thought, we have made the difficult choice to postpone the console release, which was initially scheduled for August, while we get everything in order. We are now planning a spectacular launch during the week preceding Halloween in October. This provides us with the necessary time to refine and fine-tune everything. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we can’t wait to deliver Phasmophobia to consoles.”
As we all waited for an October update, Kinetic Games released another update on Steam, notifying gamers about their difficulties in developing the PSVR 2 version. They acknowledged the need to completely recreate the Maple Lodge Campsite map to be compatible with its VR mode.
This has caused another delay in the console version, bringing it back to late 2023. Hopefully, it will be accessible in time for Christmas.

“We have been diligently reviewing the game’s performance and optimizing it across all maps in preparation for the PlayStation VR2 launch to ensure a seamless experience for all of our console players.” In this sense, we had to redesign Maple Lodge Campsite entirely. This choice, while time-consuming for our creative team, is critical to providing the finest gaming experience possible.
“We had hoped to present you with a special launch in conjunction with the Halloween event, but the complexity of our current challenges requires more time.” As soon as we have additional information to provide, we will keep you updated on our progress and give you a new release date. We are working hard to minimize the impact of this delay, and we want to thank you for your ongoing support.”
