When will Overwatch 2 Season 7 be released? With each new season of Overwatch 2, there is a new battle pass to complete, changes, game modes, and more, depending on the season’s content. And perhaps, Season 7 of Overwatch 2 will provide some great new content to enjoy.
As one of the top competitive FPS games continues to expand its huge library of material, which often includes expanding the number of Overwatch 2 heroes, we anticipate Season 7 to be an exciting moment. Will enough modifications, however, cause the Overwatch 2-tier list to rise? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 Release Date
Based on past seasons of Overwatch 2, the Overwatch 2 Season 7 release date is set for October 10, 2023, at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM BST. This day falls on a Tuesday, which is the typical start date for most Overwatch 2 seasons.
Overwatch 2 seasons typically span nine weeks, although depending on where the dates fall, they may be adjusted somewhat to align with the regular Overwatch 2 update day, which is a Tuesday. Season 6 is the sole exception to this release timetable, as it was released on Thursday, August 10.
Unless Blizzard decides to revert to a Thursday schedule permanently, we predict October 10 to be quite close to the season’s release date.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Hero Buffs and Nerfs
Each season of Overwatch introduces a slew of buffs and nerfs, as Season 6 did. So far, we know that Blizzard will make significant changes to Sombra.
In an interview, Aaron Keller, the game’s Lead Level Designer, stated, “Sombra has a few small changes coming next season, but in Season 7, she’ll debut her larger rework – complete with a new ability!”
Following up on a September 22 blog post, we also know that several significant nerfs, like as Zarya, Orisa, and Torbjorn, are on the road. Meanwhile, both Mei and Zenyatta are set for some significant reworks, particularly to their freeze and Discord effects.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 New Control Map: Samoa
Blizzard has previously stated its attitude about seasonal upgrades for OW2. Each season will feature either a new Hero or a new map. Season 6 was an outlier in that it included a new Hero, new terrain, and even a new game mode!
This time around in Season 7, we’re back to business as normal, with one new map on the way. Here, fans may look forward to a new Control map set in Samoa.

The bright setting was presented with a single teaser image on September 26 ahead of a comprehensive deep dive on October 1. Little is known about the new map’s layout at this time, but that hasn’t stopped fans from guessing. Some believe that this new map has all but confirmed Mauga’s much-anticipated debut, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Halloween Event
Because Season 7 will be released around Halloween, the yearly event will almost certainly return.

The 2023 Halloween event, Rise of the Darkness, is a crossover with Diablo 4 that transforms Blizzard World into a horror-themed version of itself.
Although no information on the game mode is available, past Halloween game modes, Junkerstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride, were both PvE brawl modes, and this new game mode will most likely be the same.

Overwatch 2 Season 7: Skins
The developers have been giving players hints about what skins we can expect in the days before Season 7 comes out. The epic skin for Season 7 is Onryō Hanzo, and you’ll be able to get it all at Tier 80 of the Battlepass.

Conclusion: Overwatch 2 Season 7, “Rise of Darkness,” is planned to release on October 10, 2023, and will include a new Blizzard crossover game mode, a new control map in Samoa, and significant hero reworks, most notably for Sombra. The Halloween event, which is interlaced with a Diablo 4 crossover, as well as tantalizing promises of frightening skins like “Onry Hanzo,” heightens the gloomy tone, promising an exciting yet eerie gaming experience.
