With each update, the PvE aspect of Overwatch 2 has generated growing controversy. Yet, fans have observed the presence of menacing Null Sector ships in specific maps, hinting at the forthcoming story missions.
Recently, players were treated to a trailer showcasing the much-anticipated Overwatch 2 Invasion update, marking the long-awaited arrival of the game’s initial PvE story missions.
Fans initially had high expectations for Overwatch 2’s fully-fledged PvE experience, which was heavily promoted as a core feature and significant selling point.
However, recent updates about the cooperative PvE campaign have repeatedly disappointed fans. The cancellation of Hero Mode and talent trees further added to their letdown.
The unveiling of Overwatch 2: Invasion confirmed that the game update will omit the first three PvE missions, with a considerable gap expected between the release of future assignments.
The initial story content of Overwatch 2 will focus on the Omnic terrorist group called Null Sector and its forces as the primary antagonists. Fans have recently noticed significant indications of imminent attacks by Null Sector on specific cities within the world of Overwatch 2.
A user named Iek2003 shared one such instance on Reddit, revealing a colossal Null Sector ship hovering above Paraiso. Players discovered this while loading a custom game on the map, and other fans have also noticed similar Null Sector ships in several maps, including New Queen’s Street, Colosseo, King’s Row, and Midtown.
It is worth noting that specific maps in Overwatch 2, such as Colosseo, King’s Row, and Midtown, do not appear to be designated as mission sites for the upcoming levels in the game’s Invasion mode.
This suggests that these maps might be reserved for their playable missions in the future. The initial three player-versus-environment (PvE) tasks are confirmed to occur in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg respectively, and signs already indicate that Null Sector ships are descending upon these areas.
