OSRS Forestry is a new Woodcutting expansion that was announced at the Winter Summit in 2022. It aims to make Woodcutting a more social and interactive skill by adding new features, content, and mechanics. The update is divided into two parts: Part One, which was released on June 28th, 2023, and Part Two, which is expected to launch in August 2023.
What is OSRS Forestry?
OSRS Forestry is a new way of interacting with the forests of Gielinor, where you can explore, discover, and tend to flora and fauna. You can also earn extra XP, rewards, and currency by participating in forest Events, dynamic occurrences that happen while you chop trees.
To start your Forestry journey, you must complete a new quest called New Beginnings, available to players with at least level 15 in woodcutting. The search will introduce you to the Friendly Forester, a new NPC who will guide you through the basics of Forestry. You will also receive a Forestry Kit, a wearable item that lets you store various tools and materials for Forestry.
What are the Features of OSRS Forestry?
OSRS Forestry adds several new features to the game, such as:
New Tree Mechanics: Trees now despawn on a timer that activates after the first cut and regenerates if players stop cutting the tree before it’s fully chopped. The length of the timer depends on the type of tree. Chopping the same tree with other players will also give you an invisible +1 Woodcutting bonus for each person at the tree, up to a maximum of +10 for 10 players.
The Friendly Forester and Forestry Kit: The Friendly Forester is your primary contact for Forestry. You can find him behind Draynor Bank and in Camelot, near the Woodcutting spot in Seers’ Village. He will sell you a Forestry Kit for 120 GP, which is required for forest activities. The Forestry Kit can store various tools and materials for Forestry, such as:
- Leprechaun Charm: This charm attracts the attention of friendly Leprechauns, who will offer to store your logs.
- Bee on a stick: This item allows you to summon bees from nearby hives, who will help you chop trees faster.
- Nature Offerings: You can offer these items to nature spirits or animals in exchange for their blessings or assistance.
- Forester’s Ration: This consumable item restores your energy and boosts your Woodcutting speed quickly.
- Secateurs Attachment: This upgrade lets you prune branches from trees and collect leaves.

Events: Events are random occurrences that happen while you chop trees in forest areas. They can be beneficial or harmful, depending on your actions and choices. There are two types of events: During Chopping events and When chopping events. Some examples of events are:
- Rising Roots: The tree roots grow and try to grab you. You can either cut them off or run away.
- Flowering Tree: The tree blooms with beautiful flowers that attract butterflies. You can either admire them or collect them for later use.
- Struggling Sapling: You find a sapling struggling to grow among the bigger trees. You can either help it or ignore it.
- Leprechaun: A leprechaun appears and offers to store your logs for you. You can either accept his offer or decline it.
Campfires, Leaves, & Tea: You can create new objects using logs and tinderboxes in forest areas. Campfires provide warmth and light, allowing you to brew tea using leaves and water. Tea is a consumable item that restores your health and energy and gives you various buffs depending on the type of leaves used.

What are the Rewards of OSRS Forestry?
OSRS Forestry offers several rewards for players who engage in the new content, such as:
Anima-Infused Bark: This is an untradeable currency you earn by participating in forest Events. You can use it to buy items from the Friendly Forester’s shop, such as:
- Log Basket: This is an upgrade for your inventory that allows you to store more logs at once.
- Forestry Outfit & Recolors: This cosmetic outfit shows your dedication to Forestry. You can also buy different colors for the company using leaves.
- POH: Bee Box: This new construction item for your player-owned house allows you to keep bees and harvest honey.
- 2H Axes: These new weapons can be used for Woodcutting and combat. They have higher damage and accuracy than regular axes but are slower and heavier.
Lumberjack Outfit: This existing outfit boosts your Woodcutting XP by 2.5% when worn. You can now obtain it by chopping trees in Forestry areas instead of killing undead lumberjacks in the Temple Trekking minigame.
Arborist’s Gloves: These new gloves boost your Woodcutting speed by 5% when worn. You can obtain them by completing a new achievement diary task related to Forestry.
Seed Packs: These new items contain various seeds for Farming. You can obtain them by offering nature offerings to nature spirits or animals in forest areas.
Sawmill Voucher: This new item allows you to convert logs into planks for free at the sawmill. You can obtain it by offering nature offerings to nature spirits or animals in forest areas.
Funky-Shaped Log: This rare item can be obtained by chopping trees in forest areas. It has no use, but it looks funky.
