Kel’el Ware entered this season with the possibility of being selected in the lottery for the 2023 NBA draft. Ware has said that he will use the NCAA transfer portal after a difficult freshman season.
When playing in the NBA, Ware has the potential to develop into an exciting big man. He played for the Oregon Ducks during the 2022–23 NCAA season, and many predicted that he would go in the top 10 of the draft.
A fascinating talent is the 7-foot, 210-pound center. With an improving outside shooting, Ware has the potential to be a promising floor spacer. His length and defensive savvy also make him a good shot blocker. Ware played in the McDonald’s All-American Game and was the eighth-ranked high school basketball talent in ESPN’s Top 100 heading into the season.
Kel’el Ware’s Transfer Shake-Up: What’s Next for the Rising Star?
The destiny of Oregon freshman Kel’el Ware was a subject of considerable intrigue. Despite a lackluster rookie campaign, many thought he will enter the NBA draft in 2023.
Although having a ton of potential, Ware found it challenging to earn regular playing time with the Ducks during his rookie season. In just 15.8 minutes a game, he averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks.
Ware appears to be making the right choice because, as a work in progress, he will require a lot of playing experience before transitioning to the NBA. The most excellent name to enter the transfer portal before the NCAA season of 2023–24 will be Ware.

Kel’el Ware will be a well-known name as a potential breakout contender for the 2024 NBA draft if he can land a position that allows him to gain necessary playing experience. Although having potential as a floor general, Ware only shot 45.7% overall, including 27.3% from beyond the arc.
NBA scouts have expressed concerns about Ware’s drive, which might have stopped him from playing more minutes this season for the Ducks.
Oregon (21-15) had a challenging year overall, especially with their backcourt play. Ware’s abilities might be able to emerge if he joins a team with a good floor general, which would raise his NBA draft stock.
