Oregon Baseball Unleashes Offensive Onslaught on Arizona With 22 Hits!

In a barrage of hits versus Arizona, all nine of Oregon’s starters had hits; eight scored runs, and seven more had RBIs. The Ducks defeated the Wildcats 15-3 on Friday night at Hi Corbett Field thanks to Sabin Ceballos’ 3-for-6 performance with four RBIs, Jacob Walsh’s two home runs, and Drew Cowley’s three RBIs.

With a season-high 22 hits, eight starters had multi-hit games, and seven players scored multiple runs, Oregon (16-7, 4-3 Pac-12) set a new mark.

After Ceballos’ RBI single put UO on the board in the first, the offense exploded for seven runs in the second. When the Ducks batted around, Walsh homered to start things off, Rikuu Nishida added an RBI single, and Cowley hit a bases-clearing triple, scored on a single by Ceballos, who then scored on a single by Walsh.

For UA, TJ Nichols (3-3) pitched 1.1 innings and surrendered eight runs on six hits, two walks, and a hit batter. In the bottom of the inning, Arizona scored two runs again (14-10, 3-7) on a single and a ground ball double play.

The Ducks added five more runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles from Nishida and Colby Shade, a two-run double from Ceballos, and a single from Tanner Smith. Although the Wildcats’ sacrifice flies in the bottom of the frame, Jace Stoffal (3-2), who pitched 7.0 innings, gave up just three runs on five hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.

In the sixth inning, Gavin Grant hit an RBI double, then in the seventh inning, Walsh hit another single home run. For Oregon, Austin Anderson pitched two hitless innings in relief, walking one, hitting one, and striking out four. At 6 p.m. on Saturday, the teams resume their series.
