New Mechwarrior Game In Development: Russ Bullock, CEO of Piranha Games, stated that the firm is working on a fresh solo entry in the series during an interview with the podcast No Guts No Galaxy. Two MechWarrior video games have been produced by Piranha to date: MechWarrior Online in 2013 and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries in 2019.
Bullock stated, “It’s amazing that we’ve been able to work on MechWarrior this long. It’s been somewhat unexpected to me that we’re still working on it. Everyone is aware that DLC 4 for MechWarrior 5 is forthcoming and that Piranha is working on a new MechWarrior game.
Bullock clarified, “It’s not MechWarrior Online 2, it’s not the sequel to MechWarrior Online, and it’s not an online PvP (game), it’s another single-player game. “Consider it more along the lines of MechWarrior 5, but as a single game or product. That’s an exclusive announcement for you, I suppose, but that’s all I’ll say for the time being.
Bullock emphasized that the game’s official announcement was still some time off, saying: “It’ll be announced later; if I had to guess, it might even be till… oh, who knows. Possibly in 2023. Perhaps even into the fall, around September or something.
“So you’ll have to wait around to find out what that is; it’ll take a while. However, the experience will be more akin to that of MechWarrior 5, which means that it will be a game that is released on both PC and console systems.

Bullock added again, emphasizing: “So it’s not the next internet game,” that the game “follows more of a single player co-op type of pathway, kind of building off that whole technology base.” In 2019, MechWarrior 5 was initially made available as an Epic Store exclusive.
In the end, the game was made available in May 2021 on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, and in September 2021 on PS4 and PS5. Since the 1997 release of MechWarrior 2 on the original PlayStation, the latter was the first time the MechWarrior series has been made available on a PlayStation console.
