The creator and director of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, has hinted that Mortal Kombat 12—or maybe Mortal Kombat 1, as some sources have it—should have its debut trailer this week. With several teaser films, NetherRealm Studios has been raising interest in the announcement of its upcoming Mortal Kombat game in recent weeks.
We will see the newest game in the venerable fighting game series for the first time in just a few days. Recently, Boon shared a teaser on Twitter that many followers felt was related to Mortal Kombat 12.
The clear message from Boon on social media was, “This week should be fun.” Boon didn’t specifically mention Mortal Kombat in this tweet, but it is apparent from the inference that this is what he was getting at. As a result, it appears like the series’ next game will be officially revealed at some point before this week is out.
Boon shared on Twitter:

A trustworthy video game writer made a tip regarding the potential timing of this Mortal Kombat 12 unveiling not long after Boon’s initial tease. Jez Corden specifically said Thursday, May 18, as the day Mortal Kombat fans should mark for such an announcement on their calendars.
If true, we’ll probably see at least a trailer for MK12 within the next day. We don’t currently have much official information on Mortal Kombat 12. As previously noted, rumors over the last week have suggested that the upcoming franchise installment will be called Mortal Kombat 1 and will act as a relaunch of the series.
