Call of Duty fans eagerly await the next instalment of the best-selling shooter franchise, which is reportedly called Modern Warfare 3 and developed by Sledgehammer Games. The game is expected to launch on November 10, 2023, with campaign early access starting from November 2, 2023.
The game will also feature a new Warzone map as part of its first season after launch, based on the Las Almas location from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.
What to Expect From Modern Warfare 3?
Modern Warfare 3 is said to be a direct sequel to last year’s Modern Warfare II, which was one of the most successful Call of Duty games ever. The game will feature a campaign mode, a multiplayer mode, a zombie mode, and a battle royale mode. The campaign mode will continue the story of Captain Price and his team facing new threats and challenges.
The multiplayer mode will offer various ways and maps, some returning from previous games. The zombie mode will be similar to the Outbreak mode from Black Ops Cold War but with more features and possibly a standalone free-to-play version. The battle royale mode will be integrated with Warzone 2, the revamped version of the popular free-to-play way launched with Modern Warfare in 2019.

Why is Modern Warfare 3 a Surprise?
Modern Warfare 3 was not originally planned as the next Call of Duty game. According to reports, Activision had intended to skip a full-fledged release in 2023 and instead focus on expanding Modern Warfare II with a large DLC package.
However, due to various factors, such as the success of Modern Warfare II, the demand from fans, and the competition from other shooters, Activision decided to change its plans and greenlight Modern Warfare 3 as a premium title.
Sledgehammer Games, which also developed Call of Duty: Vanguard in 2021, had only two years to develop Modern Warfare 3, with support from other studios such as Infinity Ward and Treyarch. Modern Warfare 3 is also a surprise because it marks the first time a Call of Duty sub-series has three consecutive entries in three years.
Usually, Activision rotates between different sub-series every year, such as Black Ops, Modern Warfare, and World War II. However, due to the popularity and acclaim of the Modern Warfare reboot in 2019, Activision decided to continue the sub-series with Modern Warfare II in 2022 and Modern Warfare III in 2023.
