Minecraft Legends, which was just revealed a few days ago, will be Mojang’s second significant departure from Minecraft. Because Minecraft Dungeons was such a hit, the creators have decided to attempt something fresh once more. Even though they’ve been focusing on the legendary basic game for 13 years and have had great success with it, it appears that they’re now branching out.
Minecraft Legends will be distinct both from Minecraft and Dungeons, giving fans of both games yet another title to add to their collection. Die-hard Minecraft fans are already anticipating the release of Legends.
Because the news was only made recently, information about Mojang’s newest business is currently scant. Here’s all you need to know about the game, including if it’ll be multiplayer like Minecraft and Dungeons.

Minecraft Legends: Multiplayer or not?
Minecraft Legends will, in actuality, be multiplayer, according to Xbox. Microsoft owns Xbox, which in turn controls Mojang Studios and all of its games.
For the time being, the devs have remained tight-lipped about the new game’s design. They haven’t even said whether or not the game will have a cross-platform multiplayer mode, which is highly likely.
As most people are aware, both Lego and Minecraft Dungeons are cross-platform games, so Legends should be no unique.
Strangely, Mojang is not developing on this project alone. Although their previous titles were solely theirs, Legends will be a collaborative effort. Legends will be developed alongside Mojang by Blackbird Interactive, a Canadian team that worked on Minecraft Earth.
At the time of posting, no firm release date has been set. It has a rough release date of “2023,” although that might be anything between seven to 19 months from now.
The game has been announced for the following platforms:
- Windows by Microsoft
- The Nintendo Switch
- The PlayStation 4
- The PlayStation 5
- The Xbox One
- Xbox X/S Series
This is wonderful news for the last console users, as many new releases are being developed only for modern consoles, with Gotham Knights being a prominent example.
Cristina Anderca, the Creative Writer for Mojang Studios, said about the upcoming release:
“Stories have enormous power. Legends tell us about the past and what may have been. They serve as a link between ourselves and generations past as well as those yet to come. Starting today, we’d like to tell you another story about harmonious coexistence, where adventurers didn’t get goosebumps when they heard hissing, groaning, or bone clatter. And the time when a frightening power threatened to permanently poison this perfect planet. This is a narrative about Minecraft Legends’ Overworld.”
The core plot of Minecraft Legends will revolve around the Overworld banding together to repel an invasion of voracious piglins. The phrase ‘the Overworld’ implies that any mobs that spawn there, including hostile ones, will be obliged to band together to resist this new menace.
The game will be set in the past, but it will be neither truth nor fiction in terms of Minecraft lore. It is a story passed down from peasant to villager, thus discrepancies and inaccuracies are possible.
Minecraft Legends: New Strategy Spinoff
The overworld is transforming once more, this time into Minecraft Legends, a new action strategic planning spinoff for Mojang’s original crafting game. Legends intend to take you on an adventure through the overworld’s biomes, and hunter-gatherers’ resources to fortify your defenses against invading the pig army. You’ll turn ancient foes like skeletons and creepers into allies in the fight against the Nether’s evil. Yeah, and your pals can participate in online co-op as well.
Mojang revealed a little bit about who is planned for strategically managing your mob’s armies in Legends during the Xbox Showcase in June 2022. One thing is evident from the announcement trailer: you’ll be riding about on horses like a knight in iron armor. Here’s almost everything we know about Minecraft Legends thus far:
Minecraft Legends Final Release Date?
There isn’t an exact one yet. Mojang has stated that Minecraft Legends will be released in 2023. We do not even know much else at this point. What we do know is that Minecraft Legends was announced at the Xbox Showcase in June 2022, which Microsoft stressed was focused on games released within the following 12 months. If everything goes as planned, Minecraft Legends will be released in the first half of 2023.
When that does arrive, we knew that Minecraft Legends would be available on PC, consoles, and Xbox Game Pass.
Does Minecraft Legends have a release date?
Not an exact one yet. Minecraft Legends is launching sometime in 2023, Mojang has said. We don’t know much more than that yet. What we do know is that Minecraft Legends was revealed during the Xbox Showcase in June 2022, which Microsoft emphasized was focused on games launching within the next 12 months. If all goes according to plan, it sounds like Minecraft Legends is planned for the first half of 2023, then.
Minecraft Legends Trailer
The Minecraft Legends teaser may only be a tease, though a lot is going on, including a look at gameplay. The first bits are, of course, an animated cinematic, like Mojang, occasionally does for previous Minecraft announcements and projects.
According to the description, Minecraft Legends “tells the narrative of the Main world uniting against an attack by voracious pigs.” “The legend says that only you can unite the hordes of the Overworld and assist them to protect their home.”
Based on this, it stands to reason that the player is riding their horse in front of an army of creepers, zombies, and skeletons. It appears that long-standing adversaries will band together to drive the pigs back into the Below.
Minecraft Legends Gameplay
In its announcement post, Mojang has mentioned the following about Legends: “To stop the spread of Nether corruption, you will defend peaceful communities and combat armies of piglins. You are the focal point of every battle you command, fighting alongside your teammates while giving them orders.”
If you look attentively, you can get a few glimpses of it in the unveiling trailer. The player rides a horse, followed by mob units, holding a blue flag as if summoning their army to their position. The player and their mob companions may also be seen battling a horde of piglins and assaulting a bleak-looking Nether fort with a portal in the center.
Who is working on Minecraft Legends?
It comes out that Mojang is not working on #MinecraftLegends. It’s being made by Blackbird Interactive, which also created the spaceship deconstruction sim Hard space: Shipbreaker (which we gave a 91 percent rating) and is working on the RTS Crossfire: Legion.
Mojang claims that BBI has a staff devoted to working on Minecraft Legends, and while it was not being managed by in team, it certainly sounds like it’s in capable hands.
