Metroid Fusion has been revealed for Nintendo Switch Online, the company’s subscription service, as part of Nintendo’s current push to bring its most iconic Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles to the platform. On Thursday, March 9, all subscribers can play this vintage Game Boy Advance game.

In Metroid Fusion, first released in 2002, the legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran searches the surface of Planet SR388 for parasitic species known as X. Many fans of the Metroid series consider this 2D action game to be among the series’ finest installments. Fusion is easily one of the best action games for the Game Boy Advance, with highly responsive controls, amazing graphics, and great music.
The debut of Metroid Prime Remake last month was quickly followed by the unexpected announcement of Metroid Fusion. We can only hope that the release of Metroid Prime 4 isn’t too far off, especially since Metroid Dread is a relatively new game in the franchise.
The fourth installment in the series, which was first announced in 2017, has been in and out of development several times over the past six years. But in 2019, producer Kensuke Tanabe, who also worked on the first three games and Metroid Prime: Hunters, chose to return to the series and restart development.
Nintendo announced that Metroid Fusion is coming to Switch on March 9th.
