The reveal of Marvel’s Blade at the Game Awards was an unexpected but welcome surprise for both Marvel and Arkane fans, as the developer behind Dishonored, Prey, Deathloop, and, most recently, Redfall unveiled their upcoming project to the delight of many fans who were not expecting a licensed game to be their next title.
The game’s cinematic trailer didn’t show much about its gameplay, but it hinted enough to make fans of the hero excited. However, one significant advantage Marvel’s Blade currently has is the ideal release date, which might give the game a significant boost in attention.
Although the teaser was brief, it provided fans with an insight into Arkane Studios’ tone and unique style, as well as how that style will inspire Marvel’s Blade. Additional developer remarks confirmed that Marvel’s Blade will be a single-player, third-person game set in Paris, with the titular daywalker battling vampires in a quarantined version of the city.
While it appears that the game’s release is still some time away, a November 2025 release window would likely be excellent because it would coincide with the premiere of the MCU’s Blade film, which is planned to enter theatres that month.
Marvel Blade Game Release Date
Depending on if Marvel’s Blade is slated for a 2025 release, the year might be monumental for Blade fans, with a game and a film featuring the hero in the works. While the MCU Blade film is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2025, criticism about the script and production delays due to the WGA writers’ strike may lead to the release date being pushed back.

However, it would be a tremendous missed opportunity for Marvel if the release of Arkane’s next game did not coincide with the release of the Blade film. Although the two games are unlikely to be directly related in terms of plot, considering that Arkane appears to be putting its distinct spin on the character, there is a lot of opportunity for allusions between the two pieces of media if they are published concurrently.
In 2023, Spider-Man fans were treated to both a film and a game, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, and there were some clear references to the film in Spider-Man 2 via the Spider-Bot side quest. If the two films’ release dates are aligned, Marvel’s Blade may do something similar to the MCU flick.
Despite receiving a lot of attention from fans at the Game Awards for its reveal, Marvel’s Blade will face an uphill battle when it does debut following the letdown of Arkane’s recent title Redfall.
Redfall, another title focusing on vampire hunting, fell short of user expectations due to its live-service aspects and disappointing co-op gameplay, which was a long cry from Arkane’s single-player experience. Given its single-player gameplay, Marvel’s Blade appears to be in a stronger position than Redfall, but an extra boost of attention from a release alongside the film could benefit it as well.

With recent reports indicating that Insomniac’s Wolverine game is also aiming for a 2025 release, Marvel’s Blade may face some serious competition. While Marvel fans will have two titles to look forward to, some may be put off by the release of many superhero games so soon together.
However, Arkane may have an advantage over Insomniac if Marvel’s Blade is released concurrently with the film while the character is still in the spotlight.
