Last Oricru: The memories of my childhood buddies evoke the most powerful feelings. Outdoor baseball game. After shattering yet another window, we quickly made our escape. Cooperation, in a nutshell. Everybody is in it together. Plus, all the time spent playing video games.
One of my fondest recollections is of a game I played. Does anybody have fond memories of playing video games with a buddy through a split screen or the internet? Can you hear your mum yelling at you to get off the phone so she can make a call? Those times, it would seem, have passed forever. Is that not the case?
Not the web access (thanks, Marvius), but the games. It seems like our luck has changed since The Last Oricru is helping to revive those emotions. The rush you get when you and your friend are fighting off waves of enemies together. Working as a team to either achieve victory or spectacular defeat. albeit in concert.

Last Oricru
I don’t even know what I’m talking about. Let’s back up and restart from square one. The action role-playing game The Last Oricru takes place in the futuristic medieval world of Wardenia. The answer is “yes” to both science fiction and medieval references. You won’t believe the way themes come together in this universe until you witness it for yourself. Simply said, it’s great.
Continuing. The player assumes the position of Silver, a human who has survived a shipwreck and is now stranded on the aforementioned planet and must figure out how to go home. In some ways reminiscent of E.T. You don’t have a glowing finger or the ability to send motorcycles flying through the air; instead, you have a luminous belt that resurrects you when you die and gives you access to even more awesome powers. Let it be enough to say that a battle on Wardenia will satisfy even your most heroic desires.
The bad news is. You won’t find a group on Wardenia that isn’t willing and able to give you a swift kick in the behind. That’s why it’s helpful to have a buddy. But for now, just know that Wardenia is at war (surprise!) and that the many groups involved are vying for nothing less than global control. It’s a little surprise that everyone is attempting to get you to join their side. To put it another way, the future of Wardenia depends on your actions. Not at all!
So, I based the first part of my piece on the concept of having fun with other people. Although The Last Oricru was developed with a solo experience in mind, it has many cooperative modes that greatly enhance the experience. A local co-op call may be made at any time, and an online co-op session can be initiated from any terminal (a save point in the game). In offline or online split-screen co-op, enlist their aid in your journey. How awesome is that?
You get to bring a friend/loved one/kid along on this voyage, but you still get to make all the choices and drive the tale ahead as the main character. Inviting someone who wouldn’t normally join in will give him the chance to experience the game’s narrative alongside you. A few short game-specific notes: your character’s experience and stuff will be shared among characters.
The game’s spectacular lightning chain strikes, for example, can only be used in cooperative play. You may use them directly on your foe in single-player, but in co-op, you and your trusted companion can form a bridge to bbq anybody unfortunate enough to be caught in the middle. Do you get the sense that I can’t wait for this game?
There are several nights of playtime required for a single game. This length of time is ideal for allowing numerous playthroughs to disclose all of the stories. Don’t be duped by the various groups. They’re all very nasty, and they all have their own agendas, but the choice is yours, and it matters. Believe me on this.
The good news is that there is no way to get trapped or even make a serious error. That is to say, there are no “bad” options to choose from. As a well-respected artist once put it, “pleasant little mishaps” are the worst that can happen.
Still around? So, why do you still seem to be waiting? Gather some pals and prepare for an experience you won’t forget any time soon. Smile, weep, and make a difference. The regular stuff. And don’t forget to drop a postcard from the beautiful vacation land of Wardenia. We must wait for the Ratvolution. Xbox Series X|S owners may get The Last Oricru from the Xbox Store right now.
