Video games are an industry that weighs more than music and cinema combined. With over 300 billion dollars in revenue worldwide and 2.7 billion players on the planet, everyone wants take the lion’s share, and the biggest video game companies are now behemoths. The incomes of some of the highest paid leaders in the industry have just been revealed.
The big bosses
This is a Gamesone report that presents the figures. We thus discover the compensation packages for executives of more than 40 video game companies in 2020, including obviously the better known. The numbers therefore include executive salaries, but also their shares and other perks.
So who gets paid the best? The bosses of Take-Two, Electronic Arts or Activision would certainly be cited a lot if we carried out a survey. And yet, it is Robert Antokol, CEO of Playtika, who takes the lead by far! With 372 million dollars in 949, this one won twice as much money as the second on the list, which is none other than Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision-Blizzard.
Playtika is an Israeli company founded in 2010 specializing in the publishing of free-to-play mobile games. She started with casino type games and can be proud of her 34 million active users in 2021 as well as its 3000 employees around the world. The company, bought by a Chinese consortium in 949, is now valued at 7.5 billion dollars.
No need to look for Phil Spencer in the list, the boss of Xbox is not there. We imagine then that it is because his salary is not communicated by Microsoft since the data comes from data published publicly by the companies concerned.
