In announcing a new game in the Horizon series, Guerrilla Games informed fans that Aloy and her companions will continue their exploration of the machine-filled post-apocalyptic world they had begun in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West.
Less than a week has passed since the release of Burning Shores, the DLC for Horizon Forbidden West that transports Aloy and her friends to the volcanic ruins of Los Angeles.
With the 2017 release of Horizon Zero Dawn, an action role-playing game that followed the teenage huntress as she sought to unravel the mysteries of her past in a world overrun by enormous machines that killed off most of humanity, Aloy’s narrative officially began.

The exploits of Aloy as she traveled to the West Coast of the United States to save everyone from a menace that would end the world were continued in 2022 with the release of Horizon Forbidden West by Guerrilla Games. Forbidden West, like its predecessor, received praise for its graphics, plot, and gaming mechanics and was nominated for multiple end-of-the-year awards.
Guerrilla Games hinted about a third Horizon game by announcing the new positions of several important team members and revealing that they will be working on Aloy’s upcoming adventures.
Angie Smets, Studio Director and Executive Producer departs Guerrilla to take a position as Head of Development Strategy at PlayStation Studios. Joel Eschler, Hella Schmidt, and Jan-Bart van Beek will now serve as Guerrilla’s new management team.
They will serve as the studio’s head as it continues to develop new Horizon multiplayer games and the Forbidden West sequel. Even while this message confirms that a new Horizon game is in development, Guerrilla’s upcoming project is more likely to be the new Horizon multiplayer project than a Forbidden West sequel.

The job description for the Lead World Designer position at the studio stated that they will be working on the upcoming Horizon multiplayer game by Guerrilla. After the release of Forbidden West, fans hoped for a third game in the Horizon series since they were curious about what would happen to Aloy and her friends following the events of the previous title.
Varl or Erend might play a bigger part in the Horizon Forbidden West sequel, minor antagonists from earlier games might get a second chance, and Aloy, the game’s primary protagonist, might even pass away. After the launch of the Horizon multiplayer project, further details regarding Horizon 3 should become available.
