Two other GTA and Red Dead Redemption devs have joined the new firm of two former Rockstar co-founders.
In June 2022, it was discovered that Dan Houser, one of Rockstar Games’ founders, had quit the firm and formed a new studio named Absurd Ventures.
The new company’s goal is to create “new IP across all platforms and for all formats,” so we may expect games, movies, TV, podcasts, graphic novels, and other projects from the crew.
Lazlow Jones, who worked on multiple Rockstar games, including GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Bully, and others, has joined Absurd Ventures as an executive producer, according to Axios’ Stephen Totilo on Twitter and RockstarIntel.
Longtime senior Rockstar developers are gathering at Absurd Ventures. The company, started by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, recently hired GTA V/RDR2 senior writer Michael Unsworth as its head of story. Lazlow Jones listed as a co-founder.

Along with them, Michael Unsworth, who served as a senior writer on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, has joined the former Rockstar devs as the new studio’s head of story and creative management.

Variety also reported earlier this month that Wendy Smith, former head of communications for talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), had joined the company as chief operating officer of Absurd Ventures.
Smith said in an interview with the source that the business hopes to disclose more “in the weeks ahead,” which should give us an indication of what is presently under development.
