During today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Nintendo confirmed that Grounded will be available for the Nintendo Switch on April 16th.
Obsidian Entertainment produced Grounded, which was initially released by Xbox Game Studios.
This is one of just a handful of Xbox games that are testing the waters with ports to other systems. Hi-Fi Rush is another reported game, however, Nintendo has not confirmed anything as of now.
According to recent sources, Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will also be available on the PlayStation 5.
Nintendo has not provided a precise price for this updated edition of Grounded. Today’s Nintendo Direct included a new promo for the Switch version.
Many Xbox users were concerned about the platform’s new commercial intentions for exclusivity. However, Microsoft did produce a special edition podcast to address these issues.
Microsoft also disclosed plans for a “powerful” next-generation Xbox system, and a portable gadget may still be on its way.
Grounded would undoubtedly benefit from mobile gaming on the Nintendo Switch. It features a casual tone, with a lot of base construction and a lightheartedness that fits the Nintendo image.
Grounded is a low-stakes indie game for Xbox, although it has received highly positive Metacritic ratings.
The Nintendo Switch adaptation of Grounded is undoubtedly a highlight of today’s event. However, many Nintendo fans are becoming antsy as they await the next major console announcement.
A recent Bloomberg story from earlier this week stated that Nintendo shares had slumped by “as much as 8.8%”.
This followed speculations that the Switch 2 console might be delayed until next year. However, fresh reports say that the much-anticipated Switch 2 unveiling will take place in June 2024.
