God Of War Tv Series: Rafe Judkins, the showrunner of “Wheel of Time,” has been tapped to create a live-action adaptation of the famous “God of War” video game series from PlayStation.
According to Amazon, based on the hugely popular 2018 video game, the program follows Kratos, the God of War, who leaves his bloody past in ancient Greece and hangs up his weapons for good in the Norse realm of Midgard.
When his loving wife passes away, Kratos embarks on a perilous journey with his estranged son Atreus to fulfill his wife’s dying wish: to scatter her ashes from the tallest mountain. Kratos quickly understands that the travel is an epic mission in disguise that will test the relationship between father and son and need Kratos to engage in new god and monster combat to decide the planet’s fate.
Along with Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, writers of “Iron Man” and “Children of Men,” Judkins will showrun and executive produce the television series based on the Santa Monica Studio video game. Along with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from Playstation Productions, Yumi Yang from Santa Monica Studio, and Roy Lee from Vertigo, executive producers will also include Santa Monica Studio’s studio creative director Cory Barlog.
Jeff Ketcham, from Santa Monica Studio, is a co-executive producer. The program was created in collaboration with PlayStation Productions, Sony Picture Television, and Amazon Studios. According to Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, “‘God of War’ is a compelling, character-driven property that we believe will captivate our international customers as much with its expansive and immersive settings as its rich storytelling.”

We are privileged to work with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio on this historical exploration of the God of War mythos. The “God of War” TV series is the most recent program based on a video game that is either in development or production, joining shows like HBO’s “The Last of Us,” “Halo,” “Twisted Metal,” starring Anthony Mackie at Peacock, and “Fallout” from “Westworld” creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan.
Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, said, “We are thrilled and excited to be working with our colleagues at Amazon Studios and our collaborators at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and sad game into a quality live-action series.”

Rafe, Mark, and Hawk are creating a series that chronicles a course through Kratos’s old mythical voyage. Head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash continued, “‘God of War’ is one of PlayStation’s most celebrated video games, so we’re pleased to join Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios to boldly and authentically introduce our beloved property to fans and new audiences.”
“God of War: Ragnarok,” the follow-up to the “God of War” video game from 2018, was only launched last month. It won for best narrative, action/adventure game, score/music, audio design, acting for Christopher Judge as Kratos, and innovation in accessibility at last week’s Game Awards.
