God Of War Ragnarok Pays Tribute To Developer Who Died During Production! An in-game memorial to a developer who passed away during the creation of God of War Ragnarök was left by Sony Santa Monica, and it is quite heartwarming.
Please take note that although this homage has nothing to do with the game’s main plot, it does relate to one of the side missions called “Favour.” Please stop reading if you want to avoid learning any spoilers.
Love hearts may be seen embellishing the surroundings as players explore the realms of God of War Ragnarök. The Across the Realms side-quest is related to these hearts. This quest chronicles the tale of Jari and Somr, a couple who together traveled throughout the realms in search of a place to call home.
Players can locate their camp in Midgard, called the Eternal Campfire, and from there start gathering the materials needed for the couple’s upcoming meal (thanks, SirusGaming). Sam Handrick and Jake Snipes, a pair from Sony Santa Monica, are in fact related to this in-game love story.
Snipes started working at Santa Monica in 2019, and they later became a couple. The two quickly developed an unbreakable bond as they travelled throughout the US together and baked (a lot) for the studio. But their romance came to a premature end.
Snipes tragically went dead in 2020 from epilepsy, leaving Handrick inconsolable. Handrick recounted the couple’s behaviour as he shared their tale on Twitter “Discuss how much it would mean to us to leave a mark on Ragnarok.

We made this game jointly, and it contained some clues that led to our first meeting. “Snipes once proposed a simple heart etched into this universe we created with our initials in Norse runes,” He went on: “Jake suggested that our initials be carved into a heart, so I shared Jake’s idea with the team and Eric (Williams, Ragnarök’s director).
And he brought something even more unique back with him and the team. “A tale of two men who meet in a world that is frequently unkind and find a place to belong in one other. “I intended for this tale to be one that many LGBT people can identify with: the search for a location that truly feels like home involves navigating a society that isn’t always sympathetic.

“And occasionally it’s just a single individual. A dish, for example, can serve as a gateway to that house.” Below, you can read the entirety of Handrick’s breathtakingly lovely thread.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is God of War Ragnarok the final game?
God of War: Ragnarok is both the critical chapter in Krato’s individual travels and the genuinely epic end to the Norse narrative of the franchise. And so it all comes to this.
Will God of War Ragnarok be on PC?
PlayStation Studios CEO Hermen Hulst stated that “moving forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on PlayStation and on the PC platform, maybe with the exception of live service games” in an interview with Julien Chièze on YouTube (thanks VGC).
How many hours is God of War Ragnarok?
You should need more than 20 hours to complete the God of War Ragnarök narrative. You should finish it in that amount of time if you concentrate on the main plot, rush through any side missions, and don’t stop to take in Kratos’ most recent adventure’s sights, sounds, and smells.
