With Forza Motorsport 7 arriving in 2017, the eighth Forza Motorsport has been in production for a while. The racer was first displayed at Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase in 2020, where it was disclosed that the following title would completely dispense with the numeral.
Because Forza Horizon 5 was published before this most recent Motorsport, it appears that developer Turn 10 has had difficulties getting it ready for primetime. The eighth Forza Motorsport, though, may eventually release later this year, according to a recent source.
YouTuber MrMattyPlays claims to have heard that Forza Motorsport would release October in the most recent edition of Defining Duke, a podcast produced by the team at Last Stand Media. We do have to point out that you should proceed with extreme caution when considering this potential leak.
Even while MattyPlays has made some accurate predictions in the past, most notably that Starfield will be delayed until the second half of 2023, we still wouldn’t put all our faith in him. Having said that, the prediction passes the sniff test.
Given that summer is practically upon us, a fall release seems reasonable if Forza Motorsport is indeed coming out this year. Microsoft would be wise to schedule Motorsport to release after Starfield, which is scheduled to launch in September.
In either case, Forza Motorsport is expected to be a more enduring iteration of the game when it finally debuts. Dan Greenawalt, the series’ director, described it as “a platform inside of Game Pass” in a 2022 GQ interview.
It’s unclear what exactly that means for the Horizon branch of the franchise but given how aggressively Microsoft has pushed Game Pass over the past few years, making Motorsport available as a service makes perfect sense.

That not only provides a strong incentive for players to join, but it also creates opportunities for Turn 10 to earn more revenue through microtransactions, should they decide to pursue that course of action.
