Escape From Tarkov 0.13 Patch Trailer: The much-anticipated 0.13 patch for Escape From Tarkov, which adds new gameplay elements, a brand-new map, under-barrel grenade launchers, and several new weapons, has a trailer available. What is being heralded as Escape From Tarkov’s most giant patch to date has many fans ecstatic.
With its harsh mil-sim mechanics and competitive PvPvE gameplay loop, Escape From Tarkov, first launched as a closed alpha in 2016, contributed to the definition of the extraction shooter subgenre. Escape From Tarkov has had many significant additions and changes, and as a result, the game’s ebb and flow depends on wipes with each of its significant patches.
Player progress and inventory are wiped, and the game’s universe is created from scratch each time new content is added. The most recent update, which included a wipe, was released in June 2022 and added a Lighthouse map, enlarged the offline co-op option, added some weaponry, and made numerous bug fixes and visual enhancements.
Players often speculate throughout the period between patches as the next wipe looms large due to Battlestate Games‘ lack of contact with its fan base. Battlestate Games finally unveiled a trailer showcasing various new weaponry on its years-in-the-making Streets of Tarkov map after fans estimated the release date for Escape From Tarkov’s 0.13 patch.
Streets of Tarkov, the ninth playable map introduced to Escape From Tarkov, is by far the game’s most ambitious (with a scrapped version of the map shown as far back as 2018). The two-minute video exemplifies a sense of scale and verticality not present in Escape From Tarkov’s playable locations, explaining why the map has taken so long to complete.
Although the trailer omitted a release date, it is plausible to assume that the patch will soon be live, given the announcement of a Twitch Drops event for Escape From Tarkov on December 29 and the regular stream of pre-wipe events throughout December. In addition to the Streets of Tarkov terrain, the trailer also features the Steyr AUG, Ash 12 revolver, and SR2MP weapons.
The final frame of the clip, which many assume to be a tease for the new Lighthouse Keeper NPC and trader, was also caught by astute viewers. As is customary for Escape From Tarkov, Battlestate Games does not wish to give away any additional content included with 0.13.
Some fans were ambivalent about the announcement due to its usual mystique, wondering why there was such a big deal made out of something they already knew would happen.
The excitement surrounding the 0.13 patch for Escape From Tarkov is palpable. A portion of the player community believes the game has stagnated throughout 2022.
However, they are still optimistic that combining a new wipe and a new map would give the fun, unique to other games, new life (imitators notwithstanding). If the anticipation is justified, time will tell, but for now, fans of Escape From Tarkov can’t get enough of the commotion.
