Elder Scrolls Pre-Production: There is no doubt that The Elder Scrolls 6 is one of the most anticipated games in the industry right now. Morrowind and Oblivion won over fans of role-playing games, and they remain devoted to the series as a result.
It’s no surprise that after Skyrim‘s massive sales, fans of the Elder Scrolls series eagerly anticipate the next installment. Sadly, we will have to wait longer for the next Elder Scrolls game.
Players are displeased by Todd Howard’s admission that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in pre-production and won’t be out for several more years. The fact that we had to wait so long to find out shows how harmful it is to reveal too much too soon about an upcoming game. If you want to improve your knowledge, keep reading this article.
Elder Scrolls Pre-Production
The announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6 was made for the first time during the 2018 E3 Conference in June. After the gameplay announcement for Fallout 76 and a teaser trailer for Starfield, a trailer for a teaser was shown.
The brief announcement trailer showed a vast landscape that many assume is Hammerfell, set to the series’ signature score and finished with the words “The Elder Scrolls VI.” The audience responded enthusiastically to this reveal. It’s clear that Bethesda is aware of The Elder Scrolls 6 as one of its most anticipated releases; Howard referred to it as “the one you [the fans] keep asking about.”
In an unfortunate turn of events, the developer has been mum ever since. Fans aren’t happy about the delay, even if Howard did explain at E3 2018 that The Elder Scrolls 6 would be published after Starfield. We now jump forward to the recent Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
Fans of Starfield were given a detailed look at the game’s systems, gameplay, and environments, but those of The Elder Scrolls 6 were given nothing. No information on a sequel to Skyrim was revealed until after the demo, which wasn’t good. Howard stated in a recent interview that development on The Elder Scrolls 6 has not yet begun.
There will be at least two years between the release of Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6, as that game is scheduled to come out after Starfield. Howard notes that Starfield was chosen because it was Bethesda’s first new intellectual property, and the team was eager to work on something different.
However, the fact that Bethesda has pushed the release date of Starfield out to 2023 doesn’t help matters. As more time passes, anticipation wanes, and disappointment among fans grows due to the lack of further updates. Maybe it wasn’t the best timing for Bethesda to reveal The Elder Scrolls 6 so soon.
With Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, many beloved and exciting new games will be locked behind Xbox exclusivity, including the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6.

Discord Among Elder Scrolls Fans
Bethesda’s trademark appears on the teaser artwork for The Elder Scrolls 6. Several gamers have questioned Bethesda’s decision to reveal The Elder Scrolls 6 so soon after the game’s predecessor, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
It did nothing but build anticipation for a game that wasn’t even close to being released. Of course, for a while, it did energize the community, with hundreds of theories and expectations springing up all over the internet.
When the developer failed to provide any new information or updates over several years, the excitement surrounding the game faded and was replaced by exasperation among its core followers. Critiques of the early announcement quickly returned the videos and articles speculating what The Elder Scrolls 6 could be.
As the community at large, even Skyrim’s Grandma urged Bethesda to “hurry up” with development. However, a subsection of the audience isn’t very concerned about the silence surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6. For them, the lengthy wait is understandable given how long it takes to create a video game, especially in a series as well-liked as The Elder Scrolls.
Bethesda says the Elder Scrolls 6 won’t be released until after Starfield. Thus the delays make sense. The current status of Bethesda is another angle from which to view the unexpected statement. Bethesda has said nothing about the next mainline Elder Scrolls game for the eighth consecutive year.
Fans were also concerned by Bethesda’s decision to put more effort into online multiplayer titles like Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. For a long time, fans worried that Bethesda had given up on The Elder Scrolls 6 and even all single-player games.
The announcement so early was to appease the fandom and give them some sense of security that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released eventually, albeit not for a very long period.
Funny to think that if Starfield is successful enough for a Starfield 2, it won't be out until AT LEAST 2035.
Yes, 2035. And that's the optimistic date.
Todd Howard has already committed to Elder Scrolls 6 next, and then Fallout 5 after that.

The Game of Waiting Goes On
Despite the reasonableness of these explanations, the public remains restless. To reiterate what has already been said, The Elder Scrolls 6 is perhaps Bethesda’s most anticipated game. As more time passes without any news about the impending edition, fans are sure to become increasingly frustrated.
You should know that Bethesda has no obligation to give its fans The Elder Scrolls 6. The publisher can set the date of the game’s release whenever it likes. The problem is that the developer announced it in 2018. Bethesda has alienated some of the franchise’s diehard supporters in anticipation of the long production time for The Elder Scrolls 6.
This pushback exists, regardless of whether or not it’s warranted. One disadvantage of making game announcements months in advance is that the game will expand the longer it is delayed. Everyone, optimists and pessimists alike, has no choice but to wait. The Elder Scrolls 6 won’t likely enter total production until after the release of Starfield in 2023.
Even if it makes it through development, the next Elder Scrolls game may not come out until 2025 or even later. Many fans have given up hope that Bethesda will surprise them with new information and teaser content next year.
At least Starfield is coming out for the community to try, and it will undoubtedly raise the bar for both The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5. Version 6 of The Elder Scrolls is currently in production.
