Cities Skylines 2 will no longer receive weekly patches as the developer concentrates on the game’s more significant issues.
Cities Skylines 2 creator Colossal Order provided an update to fans on November 20 in the form of its regular CO Word of the Week post. In the most recent episode of the series, the studio detailed its plans for both updates and future DLC.
Cities Skylines 2 will not receive DLC until performance concerns are resolved, as previously stated, though the latest statement provides some context as to how long we may have to wait.
“Once the PC version is where we want it to be, we will be focusing on the console release and DLC content,” the statement says before disclosing that any planned DLC has been pushed back slightly.
“We are committed to bringing the marketed DLC content to you, but it will not be landing in the originally promoted schedule,” the blog post goes on to say. It then discloses that Beach Properties, Cities Skylines 2’s first Asset Pack, has already been worked on by artists and the studio’s outsourcing partner but will not be implemented until the asset and performance adjustments are complete. “I apologize for the delay, but we must not rush new content out before the base is ready for it,” said the developer. The same can be said for the Content Creator Packs and Radio Stations, with more details to follow.

Surprisingly, the post discloses that the weekly updates that the team has been releasing since launch will suddenly be less frequent. The most recent hotfix addressed issues such as rubbish and stray dogs, but the next one “is not yet scheduled,” according to the developer.
“As we’re continuing to work on the improvements, we’ll adjust the pace of the updates slightly so we won’t see a new patch every week going forward but will have a bit longer cadence between them,” according to the blog post. However, there is a reason for this: “We have completed the quicker fixes and are now delving into the ones that require a bit more work.”
