During the lull between seasons, reputable Fortnite insider Hypex released the first image of the map for Chapter 4, Season 2. The Island’s basic form remains the same, but new attractions have been added to give it a new feel for the current year.
Mega City, the shimmering city featured prominently in the new season’s promotional materials, is the most notable new point of interest introduced this year. We can tell it’s in the South since Hypex updated the map with a new color gradient showing us exactly where it is. What we’ve seen of Mega City so far suggests that it’s the place to be; it resembles a neon version of Tilted.
Hypex also showed us some screenshots of some other landmarks that have been added, including a dojo area that appears to be modeled after Lucky Landing. Teasers for the upcoming season have hinted at possible names like Aldea or Kenjutsu Crossroads, but Epic has yet to formally announce what they are. It appears to be much less chaotic than Mega City.
Other than these points of interest, the map has also been altered quite a bit this season due to the addition of a few new ways to navigate it. Grind rails have been added to the map to fulfill every player’s inner Ratchet & Clank. It’s not clear from this particular panorama of the world, but we’re guessing grind rails will be found in more than simply Mega City.
