According to a recent Call of Duty leak, the best-selling shooter franchise’s 2023 entry will be Modern Warfare 3 and include a new Warzone map in the first season following launch.
Since the release of the Modern Warfare reboots in 2019, the Call of Duty machine has continued to produce content for players as a live service platform. The third piece of the reboot trilogy appears to arrive sooner than expected.
It was predicted that 2023 would mark the first year since 2004 without a new primary Call of Duty release. Since most of Activision’s studios have been supporting the Call of Duty franchise for years, this break would have been a welcome reprieve for some of the Call of Duty teams and fans who have grown weary of the series’ many annual releases.
Later, it was stated that “premium” DLC for the newest game, Modern Warfare 2, will replace a full game release in the fall of 2023, holding off those who still appreciate the yearly releases of gaming’s most well-known FPS franchise.
As the enigmatic DLC has developed into a full-fledged standalone game during production, additional information has come to light regarding the game’s title, maps, modes, and other components.
According to Insider Gaming, Modern Warfare 3 will be the name of the Call of Duty game released this year, just one year after Modern Warfare 2 in 2022.
Sledgehammer Games, the studio behind Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, WW2, and Vanguard, has been creating the DLC, which has now evolved into Modern Warfare 3, as Infinity Ward has been busy with MW2 and releasing seasonal content in the months after its release.
According to reports, Modern Warfare 3 would include the standard pillars of a collective experience, multiplayer, and a story campaign. While Spec-Ops has traditionally been the co-op option in current Warfare games, Zombies is reportedly the first time that has happened in the current military subseries.

According to Insider Gaming, Activision is debating whether to divide the Zombies mode into its own free-to-play game. Additionally, the new Warzone map for the game’s first season, rumored to start on December 5, will be an extended version of Las Almas, a place featured in Modern Warfare 2’s narrative and multiplayer.
Fans have every right to be concerned about how iterative this sequel will be, given that it began as DLC and two significant volumes of the same Call of Duty subseries came out in back-to-back years.
It will be intriguing to see if Sledgehammer Games can produce anything remarkable despite being a team a year and a half distant from the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard in 2021. The release date of Modern Warfare 3 is supposed to be November 10, and fans might learn more about it at Summer Game Fest the following month.
