Battlefield 2042’s 4.2.0 update includes some changes to one of the game’s original launch maps. Currently, in its fourth season, Battlefield 2042 is seen by many as having undergone a significant improvement since its first introduction.
Battlefield 2042 debuted in late 2021 with just seven maps, to a fairly unfavorable response. Despite this, DICE continued to support the massively multiplayer shooter, adding new modes, maps, and material to the game over the course of the following year, including updates to several of the launch maps.
Even the specialty system, a crucial element and a dearly cherished tenet of the Battlefield game, was redesigned by DICE. The discussion surrounding Battlefield 2042 has improved recently in part because of this backing from DICE and the overhaul of the class system in particular.

The Discarded launch map redesign is the highlight of the Battlefield 2042 4.2.0 update. The industrial map is where players battle it out for control of a flooded settlement and a vast graveyard full of enormous, disorganized ships.
More control flags will be added to the map as part of the revisions, and some existing flags will also be moved. The Discarded map will be improved in three key ways. To the northwest, a field that was previously unoccupied will be changed into the Salvage Yard sector, giving players on foot extra protection from the threat of enemy vehicles.
Players have criticized Battlefield 2042’s launch maps for having too many open regions and not enough cover; it appears that DICE is resolving that issue here. DICE is moving the flag at the antenna location north, toward the Flooded Village, to further aid in battle.

According to the patch notes, this modification will allow Discarded’s north and south regions better connect with the addition of new structures. Furthermore, more cover has been added to the Dismantled Hull region to guard against Battlefield 2042 players using the Colossus deck in the map’s center as a shooting position.
Discarded has undergone these adjustments to help players traveling great distances between flags on foot survive better against opposing vehicles and snipers.
The long-awaited update to Battlefield 2042’s most distinctive map, Hourglass, is probably coming after the Discarded update now that the game’s fifth season is anticipated to start in early June.
