The recently released 1.4.0.0 patch for the current-gen console version of the first-person shooter Atomic Heart includes various other improvements and enhancements in addition to a major performance improvement.
Although some fans had hoped for some essential technical aspects, Atomic Heart didn’t launch with them. Considering Atomic Heart’s parallels to games like BioShock and Wolfenstein, it is surprising that the game had such a mixed review upon release despite its novel art style and retro-futuristic first-person shooter world design.
Even if the game itself wasn’t a jumble of bugs, Mundfish’s debut Xbox game gave many players nightmares with its broken achievements, and the PC version’s initial release lacked a ray tracing mode.
The technical part of Atomic Heart seems to be where players’ issues have largely surfaced, and Mundfish is giving console users a significant performance increase.
To announce the release of Patch 1.4.0.0, Mundfish used Twitter. With the update’s major feature, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users will be able to enjoy smashing and blasting their way through hostile Soviet robots at 120Hz.
When Atomic Heart first debuted, it ran at a vibrant 4K resolution and a fluid 60 frames per second, which is more than adequate for the majority of console gamers.
The resolution will certainly suffer a little in this new 120Hz mode, as it does in most current AAA titles, but it’s still a good alternative for players who want an even smoother Atomic Heart experience.
Mundfish dropped a tweet:
🔥PATCH 1.4.0.0🔥
Patch for Atomic Heart is rolled out and now available on PC and consoles:
• HUD, subtitle size settings
• 120Hz mode (PS5, Xbox Series X|S)
• Fixed an issue with unlocking achievementsPlus, visuals and audio, quests, gameplay, stability and even more! pic.twitter.com/Tuk7Iik1to

While Mundfish warns that players may need to start a fresh game to re-trigger the requirements for the faulty awards to activate, the significant patch also seeks to further solve the plethora of broken achievements for Xbox users.
It’s not yet clear whether this means players must fulfill the conditions again or if starting a new game instantly unlocked any bugged achievements from prior playthroughs. Players will also have more choices to modify the UI and the size of the subtitles thanks to Patch 1.4.0.0.

Frame rates and resolutions have gained significant attention in recent years, especially in the console gaming industry. While some players desire a crisper visual, others value fluid gaming.
While fans currently frequently have to choose between the two, as gaming technology advances, gamers will eventually be able to enjoy the best of both worlds. But, for the time being, console users of Atomic Heart can experience the latter.
