Ark II: Many survival games appeared after Minecraft came out, but only a select few found an audience and stayed in business. The ones who made it have solid mechanics, a wealth of material, and a fresh take on the universe. Ark: Survival Evolved may have been released a bit late, in early access in 2015 and officially in 2017, but it has been a smash hit ever since. Naturally, that was because the dinosaurs were such an integral part of the gameplay.
In contrast to most sequels, Ark 2 doesn’t merely add new content or features to the original game through updates. On the other hand, not only was a sequel revealed, but Vin Diesel himself would be participating in it. For those who don’t need to see Diesel perched atop a T-Rex to be convinced to buy Ark 2, here’s everything we know about this prehistoric adventure.

Ark II Scheduled Availability
During the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, the release date was announced to be 2022, however, it was later pushed back to an unspecified date in 2023. Given the lack of additional details, we recommend postponing your anticipation for this game until late 2023. As with the original Ark, it’s probable that there will be an early access period for this installment as well.

Ark II Platforms
Unlike its predecessor, Ark: Survival Evolved, Ark 2 will be released simultaneously for both consoles and personal computers. However, Microsoft’s website suggests that Ark 2 will be an Xbox Series X/S launch exclusive. Thus, players of the PlayStation 5 will be out of luck for an indefinite period of time. Dependent on the specifics of the agreement, this may be as little as three months or as long as a whole calendar year. However, we do know that there will be no Xbox One or PS4 versions of the game, as it will only be available on PC and current-gen consoles.
Ark II Trailers
In December 2020, on the stage of the Game Awards, the first trailer for Ark 2 was shown. The preview begins with a young woman staring at an alien disguised as a flower. As she watches it skitter down a limb, her caveman companion, Vin Diesel, approaches her from behind and announces that they must leave.
They’re back with their nomadic tribe in the jungle, but this time the beast-men are wearing masks. A long battle between Vin and the group’s leader is interrupted as a T. rex stomps through the underbrush and devours the beast-man.
A member of Vin’s tribe makes a heroic sacrifice to protect a young woman from the creature. Fights, chases, and heroic music ensue until Vin, the girl, and a lady find refuge in a cave. Here, it can be seen that everybody has a bright stone placed on their forearms, which response to some sort of futuristic technology. Vin is scanned by a computer, which reveals his name to be Santiago Da Costa, and a number of personal facts, such as the fact that his Engram Imprinting is unfinished and he has no cloning privileges.
With the device turned off, Santiago leads the group out of the cave to a vast landscape populated by prehistoric animals. The following Ark 2 trailer did not arrive until the June 2022 Microsoft and Bethesda Showcase, making it virtually a re-reveal.
Even while it’s considerably shorter than previous trailers, this one finally provides some background on Ark 2’s plot and setting. Meeka, the child from the first trailer and the daughter of Diesel’s Santiago, delivers a monologue explaining that a war in the past caused the state of the world to be a mix of archaic animals and futuristic technologies. The creatures from Earth were transported to a new planet, and now they must fight for survival every day.
The trailer’s most eye-catching scene features Santiago and Meek riding a gigantic dinosaur outfitted with a saddle and armor. Despite the fact that the trailers for Ark 2 have focused mostly on Diesel’s character Santiago, the game will remain essentially a sandbox like the first. Santiago is a carbon copy of the original game’s protagonist, so the myth goes. As the plot was never a priority for Ark, it will be set after the game’s final expansion in 2021.
Ark II Gameplay
Though the only gameplay seen so far is cinematic, several features from the original Ark should make their way into the sequel. There will likely still be a strong emphasis on survival and crafting, with a plethora of recipes, new discoveries, and exciting new things to construct. We hope the game will allow players to start with nothing and build themselves up to near-invincible levels, whether playing solo or with others. Similarly, the first game included tribe systems and interesting character interactions.
🚨 ARK 2 Gameplay could be revealed at the PC Gaming Show on November 17.

Returning to inspiration from the original game, combat may or may not use similar futuristic weaponry. While we haven’t seen any as of yet, the first one we saw featured futuristic weapons with more traditional weapons like spears and axes. This is a shared-world survival game, therefore you’ll be able to make alliances with or form alliances against other players as well as AI foes.
Players should expect fighting more akin to Souls, with locking on and dodging, as well as combos, poise, and special techniques. Also, as a major shift, Ark 2 will now be playable from either the third- or first-person perspective. This will be useful for the new methods of battle and movement as well.
Most likely considering its actually on the page lol https://t.co/2WEKrJqYua pic.twitter.com/4pI3D55W0T

Leveling up and progressing through a skill tree with various skills, parks, and bonuses are two of the most prominent RPG aspects coming to Ark 2. The Atari is a new breed of dangerous enemies that will be able to mount their own dinosaurs and attack players from the ground.
Last but not least, the dinosaurs. There was no way that feature would be removed from Ark 2, and it appears that players will have even more opportunities to tame and ride on these dinosaurs. We are curious as to how things will play out this time.
So far, all we know is that Ark 2 is entirely multiplayer. The number of players who will be able to share a world together, as well as whether or not the original’s multiplayer features will be carried over, are both unknowns at this time. Also, we have no idea if you can create a solo game world or not at this time. We do know that Ark 2 will support players on several platforms, including PC and Xbox, and likely PlayStation as well.
