Apex Legends, the popular free-to-play battle royale game, is about to enter its 18th season on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. The new season, Resurrection, will introduce a significant rework to one of the game’s legends: Revenant. Revenant is a synthetic nightmare who was once a human mercenary.
He was betrayed and killed by the Syndicate, who turned him into a simulacrum without his knowledge. He now seeks revenge on anyone who crosses his path. Revenant has been one of the least-played and least-liked legends in Apex Legends since his debut in Season 4: Assimilation.
His abilities are often considered unenjoyable and ineffective by many players, as they do not fit well with the fast-paced and dynamic gameplay of the game. His passive ability, Stalker, allows him to crouch, walk faster and climb higher than other legends, but it does not provide much mobility or stealth.
His tactical ability, Silence, throws a device that disables enemy abilities for 10 seconds, but it is easy to dodge and has a long cooldown. His ultimate ability, Death Totem, creates a totem that protects him and his teammates from death for a limited time, but it also reduces their health to 1 HP and reveals their location to enemies.

To address these issues and make Revenant more fun and viable, Respawn Entertainment, the developer of Apex Legends, has decided to overhaul him in Season 18: Resurrection. The rework will change his appearance, voice lines, abilities, and playstyle.

According to some leaked information from reliable sources, here are some of the rumoured changes to Revenant’s kit:
- Passive Ability – Double Jump: Pressing the jump button in the air allows Revenant to jump again. This gives him more mobility, verticality, and the ability to reach places other legends cannot.
- Tactical Ability – Hook Shot: Revenant fires a hook that attaches to a wall and allows him to hang on it briefly. He can swing from the theme or detach from it by pressing the jump button. This gives him more options for positioning and flanking and the ability to surprise enemies from above or below.
- Ultimate Ability – Void Grenade: Revenant throws a grenade that creates a large explosion that sends enemies into the void for a short period. Enemies in the gap cannot see or hear anything outside of it and take damage over time. This gives Revenant a robust crowd control and damage tool that can disrupt enemy teams and create openings for his allies.
These changes are expected to make Revenant more ruthless and terrifying than ever, as he can now easily hunt down his enemies and send them into his hell. Revenant will also have a new look that reflects his reworked abilities, such as glowing eyes, metal claws, and a dark cloak. His voice lines will also be updated to match his new personality and attitude.
